Staff Bios

Coach Jason Campbell

Coach Jason Campbell is entering his 15th year in education and his 4th season as the Lady Hawks Head Coach. The Scottsboro, Alabama native was a 4 year letterman at second base and catcher for Scottsboro High School during the 1980’s. He continued his playing career at Gadsden State CC before moving on to Auburn University, where he received a BS degree in Physical Education and Biology in 1994. Campbell coached baseball, football and cross country for 7 years at 3 Alabama high schools. Highlights include 7 straight baseball state playoff appearances and 3 individual girls State Champions in cross country. After moving to Cobb County in 2002, he continued his coaching career at McEachern HS as an assistant coach in the baseball and softball programs. Campbell took over the fast pitch program in 2004 and 2005 compiling a 38-28 record, 15-1 region record and 2 State Sectional appearances.

In 2006, Campbell moved to Hillgrove High School to start a new program. In 3 seasons, Hillgrove Fast Pitch has gained the respect from the top programs around the state. Under the leadership of Campbell and his staff, Hillgrove has compiled an overall record of 56-41-1 while capturing the 2008 7-AAAA Region Championship and a State Sectional appearance.

In Addition to his head coaching duties at Hillgrove, Campbell teaches in the Physical Education Department.

Coach Campbell has been married for 10 years and he and his wife, Brooke have two children: Drew (4) and Chase (1).


Coach Shannon Center

Coach Shannon Center is an Assistant Coach for the Fastpitch Softball team at Hillgrove High School. In addition to this, he is also the Head Coach of the Girls Soccer Program and Varsity Girls Soccer Team.

Prior to accepting the position at Hillgrove, Coach Center had spent 8 years as an Assistant Coach with Wheeler High School’s Fastpitch Team and 10 years with the Wheeler Women’s Soccer Program.

Coach Center teaches the Pre-Engineering / Pre-Architecture program at Hillgrove High School.

Before moving to Marietta from Upstate New York, Coach Center attended Oswego State University and SUNY Adirondack where he played soccer and obtained degrees in Engineering Science, Mechanical Technology and Vocational / Technical Education with minors in Architecture, Athletic Coaching and Sports Medicine. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Administration and a Specialists Degree in Administration / Leadership, both from Jacksonville State University.


Coach Wes Ellis

Coach Wes Ellis is in his 3rd year of teaching Social Studies at Hillgrove High School. He also coaches both fastpitch softball and baseball.

Coach Ellis played baseball at McEachern High School from 1999-2002 under longtime Coach David Joiner. In that time, his teams won back to back region titles in 2001 and 2002.

Coach Ellis played baseball at Shorter College and pitched from 2003 to 2007. He was a member of the conference championship team in 2003.
