David Richardson – Head Coach
Coach David Richardson is entering his 15th year in education and 4th year as Head Baseball Coach at Hillgrove HS. Coach Richardson is a native of Estill Springs, TN. He was a 3 year starter as an outfielder and pitcher at Franklin County High School. His senior season FCHS reached the Tennessee State Final Four in baseball. After high school, Coach Richardson was able to pitch four years at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. During Coach Richardson’s senior season at APSU, the Governors captured the Ohio Valley Conference regular season title. During Coach Richardson’s junior season, he was named OVC pitcher of the week on two occasions. Coach Richardson was named to the OVC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll all four seasons he played at Austin Peay.
Coach Richardson’s coaching and teaching career began at McEachern HS. He served as an assistant at McEachern for 11 years under Head Coach David Joiner. While at McEachern, the Indians won region titles in 1999, 2001, and 2002. The Indians were State Playoff participants in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 with the 2001 team advancing to the State Quarterfinals.
Richardson left McEachern to begin a new program at Hillgrove HS in the fall of 2006. The program continues a steady progression on the field as the Hawks inaugural year of 2007 they were 5 and 21. Since, the Hawks compiled a 15 and 11 record in 2008 and a 17 and 9 record in 2009.
In addition to coaching, Coach Richardson teaches in the Math Department at Hillgrove HS.
Coach Richardson has been married to his wife, the former Christi Warren of Clarksville, TN , for 13 years. They have two sons, Nate (12) and Wade (9).

Jason Evans – Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Jason Evans is entering his 10th year in coaching and his 4th as an Assistant Baseball Coach at Hillgrove HS. Coach Evans is a native of Estill Springs, TN. He was a 3 year all district and all region player at Franklin Co. HS. After high school, Coach Evans attended Motlow State Community College for 2 years and the University of Tennessee for 2 years. While at Motlow State Community College, Coach Evans was a two time Junior College All American (2nd team in 1995 as a DH and 3rd team in 1996 as a catcher). While at the University of Tennessee, Coach Evans was a two year starter as a catcher and was a 1998 SEC Scholar Athlete. Coach Evans also played two seasons of independent professional baseball with the Tennessee Towahawks in 1998 and 2001.
Coach Evans has coached at the High School level and the College level. He coached one year at Tullahoma HS in Tullahoma, TN in the the spring of 2000. He coached three years at Lincoln Memorial University from 2000 to 2003. Following his college coaching experience, he returned to Franklin County High School to coach form 2003 to 2006. Coach Evans then moved to Cobb County to help build the Hillgrove program with his long time friend, Coach Richardson.
In addition to Coach Evans’ coaching duties, he is a guidance counselor at Hillgrove High School.
Coach Evans has been married to his wife, the former Kelly Therrell of Marietta, GA, for one year. They have a newborn daughter, Brooklyn Hope (born December 2009).

Wes Ellis – Varsity Assistant
Coach Wes Ellis is entering his third year in education and third year of coaching at Hillgrove HS. Coach Ellis is a native of Powder Springs, GA. Coach Ellis was a three year varsity letter winner as a member of the McEachern HS baseball team. During his career at McEachern, Coach Ellis was a pitcher and infielder. He helped lead the 2001 McEachern team to the State Quarterfinals. Also during Coach Ellis’ senior season (2002), he compiled a 0.00 ERA as the team’s closer. Upon graduation, Coach Ellis pitched at Shorter College from 2003 to 2007. During his time at Shorter, Coach Ellis was a member of the SSAC conference championship team in 2003.
Coach Ellis began his coaching career during the summers while in college. He spent the summers of 2004 through 2006 helping the McEachern HS summer baseball program. Upon graduation from Shorter College in 2007, Coach Ellis has joined the Hillgrove HS coaching staff. Coach Ellis responsibilities include instructing all of Hillgrove’s infielders and JV pitchers. He is the Head JV Coach and also assists during varsity games. Coach Ellis also is an assistant Fastpitch Softball Coach at Hillgrove HS.
In addition to Coach Ellis’ coaching responsibilities, he is a member of the Social Studies department. He teaches World Geography and AP Human Geography.
Coach Ellis is engaged to be married to Tina Baguley of Marietta, GA in the summer of 2010.

Bret Langston – (Community Coach)
Coach Bret Langston is entering his 15th year in coaching and his 4th as a Community Coach at Hillgrove HS. Coach Langston is a native of Jacksonville, FL. He played baseball for four years in High School at Trinity Christian Academy (first two years) and Forrest High School (last two years).
Coach Langston has coached baseball and football in his fifteen years of coaching. Coach Langston began his coaching career at South Cobb High School where he coached for five years. He then had a six year stint at Kennesaw Mountain High School. Finally, he will be beginning his 4th season at Hillgrove High School this season.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach Langston has been a member of the Dekalb County Fire Rescue squad for 12 years. On his days off from the Fire Department, you will often find him at Hillgrove HS as a substitute teacher.
Coach Langston has been married to his wife, the former April Lamm of Powder Springs, GA, for 10 years. The couple has three children, Micah (7), Hannah (5), and Abigail (newborn).
